In this assignment, the students were given the task of creating an elevator pitch; you’re in an elevator and there is an influential person with you, asking, “tell me a little about yourself”.
Response:
My name is Maxwell, I am a student at City College, I love playing sports and climbing, making music, and traveling. My major is Undecided right now but I’m interested in Biology with a Dental track. I’m Iranian-American, an Honors student throughout High school, a Bahá’í, and proud to be a member of the Harlem community. I have been involved with the Lower Merion High School Varsity Tennis team, winning 2 state titles during my time there; I was the president of the Best-Buddies club, I have interned at TED Talks Headquarters here in New York City, have worked with the University of Pennsylvania’s Physics and Astronomy Department working on the Dark Energy Survey through Python Code, and have worked abroad in Israel as a Security Guard for the Bahá’í Gardens in Haifa. Through all of these, I have built skills in very professional environments, improving my communication skills, my awareness of what goes on around me both literally and in the world, I work very well with students/younger children, and many more.
I am attending college because I want to have a career in the future in which I can help others and serve the world to the best of my ability, while also having a steady income for the possible family I will have in the future. My family is the most important to me, my mom and dad have helped guide me throughout my life and I will never be able to thank them enough for it. I would be interested in learning more about your career in (dentistry?) and possibly talk about what the professional environment is truly like. Thank you for your time!
